After a quick visit to the Museu de la Moto in Barcelona, which serves as the meeting point of our day; we leave for a two hour drive to Lleida. The two hour drive is more than worth it as the area holds a lake, beautiful scenery and mountains, the perfect surroundings for the 4 x 4 off-road experience we are about to try. Other activities such as quad driving, paintball, rafting and canoeing can be offered as well and lend themselves perfectly to the environment. Furthermore the region and its neighboring areas hold a number of beautifully located apartments, cottages and hotels which provide a wide variety of choice.
The actual 4 x 4 off-road experience starts in the privately owned part of the forest and has narrow passages, big rocks and steep slopes to get the real feeling of this exciting experience! The experience can be booked with a driver whereby you don’t have to drive but guide the driver through the forest by means of reading the map. If you seek for the real experience of what 4 x 4 off-road driving is there is also the opportunity to get a course on how to be able to handle these monsters yourself.
Through the forest one of the hotels can be reached and it is the perfect location to have lunch before trying the experience ourselves. Lunch is served as tapas with an original twist, from gambas with olive oil mousse to calcots soup as appetizers to a main dish of very tender beef with a puree of sweet carrots to a peer ice-cream with a crunch of a coffee biscuit as dessert. Not only is the lunch very enjoyable also the great views from our table are worth a mention.
